Gamescom 2019 Presents the Great Potential of the Gaming Industry in Indonesia

The Indonesian Creative Economy Agency (BEKRAF) together with the Indonesian Game Association (AGI) have successfully run the Archipelageek program, as evidenced by the participation of the Indonesian delegation at Gamescom 2019. Archipelageek is a program aimed at improving the quality of the creative industry. Especially in the application sub-sector, which has recently been known to have a lot of potential. This year, Gamescom 2019 presents the great potential of the gaming industry in Indonesia.

The Gamescom event is not a play for games, it has long held the status of the biggest gaming event in Europe. That is, making it the best gateway to entry into the European market. The proof, 370,000 visitors from 1,037 exhibitors from around the world attended this event in 2018 yesterday.

There are ten in total companies from Indonesia who took part in the Gamescom event yesterday. Namely, Agate International, MassHive Media, Megaxus Infotech, Wawa Games, Ozysoft Studio, Touchten Games, IESPL, Komodoz, Plexus & Oray Studios and Everidea Interactive. Interestingly, these ten companies also successfully penetrated the American market through the 2019 Game Connection America (GCA) event last March. The Gamescom event itself was held in Cologne, Germany on August 20-24, 2019.

The Indonesian Ambassador to Germany, Arif Harvas, visited the Indonesian Pavilion. He admitted that he was happy with the presence of young Indonesian entrepreneurs in an event as big as Gamescom. This year, the Gamescom event itself consists of 11 halls. Where the Indonesian pavilion is located in one of the areas in Hall 3. Hall 3 is The “center” of the world’s pavilions. This hall is also occupied by Italy, England, Korea, China and Singapore.

The Great Potential of the Gaming Industry in Indonesia

The label of the Business to Business area on the Indonesian Pavilion requires that the main activity of the partition is meetings between delegates and potential business partners. On average, ten business meetings are held in a day, if you add up the total, there will be more than one hundred friends at the Indonesian Pavilion.

As a non-ministerial government institution, the Creative Economy Agency (BEKRAF), currently headed by Triawan Muna, is tasked with assisting the President of the Republic of Indonesia in the creative economy sector. Includes: application and game developer fields. There are also architecture, interior design, visual communication design, product design, fashion, animated film and video, photography, craft, culinary, music, publishing, advertising, performing arts, fine arts, and television and radio.
